I’m excited to share a review today for a bra that we’ve all been waiting for. Branwyn has just released the brand new Branwyn Essential Supreme Bra. In this review, I’m going to share why I think it’s going to be a huge hit for so many women, plus my honest review after trying it for the first time.

- MERINO: It’s why we already love Branwyn: fresh, sweat-proof, odor-busting Merino Wool construction. That means it’s a bra that’s going to fight odor and sweat and perform amazing with less washing needed, just like the rest of Branwyn’s line.
- SEPARATION: First of its kind: seamless scrunch for natural separation of the breast. This is a great design to help avoid the dreaded “uniboob” and something many of us have asked for.
- OPTIONAL PADDING: Pockets with optional bra pads is another highly-anticipated feature of the Branwyn Supreme Bra. We wanted more coverage and the ability to add padding. This bra comes with removable pads to give the coverage and curve we were wishing for!

Here are the specs from the product page for reference:
- 2.5”-wide band
- .75”-wide straps are adjustable and reversible
- pockets for bra pads
- includes bra pads
- first-of-its-kind seamless scrunch for gentle separation

Branwyn gifted me with this NEW Branwyn Essential Supreme Bra. in size Large and the color Luna Grey. They also were kind enough to include a pair of the Essential Hipsters in XL in the matching Luna Grey. For reference, I am 5’6″ and about 200 pounds currently. I’m probably a C cup and honestly have no idea about my measurements currently. These are a great fit for me!

Also, I couldn’t resist buying another bra & undie set for myself because the new Transformative Teal color is SO pretty. I already knew that I was a big fan of the Essential Bralette, so I ordered it in size Large along with a pair of Essential Boyshorts to go with it. The color is just as beautiful as I hoped it would be! Sometimes, you just want something bright and fun and this fits the bill!
A quick word about the Essential Bralette, I absolutely love it. It’s definitely these bras I wear 9 times out of 10 throughout my week. I typically pair mine with the CAKES Body silicone pads. They are super comfortable and I just handwash them in the sink at the end of the day.
Now back to the review of the Branwyn Essential Supreme Bra! Below is a pic of me wearing the bra along with the wool& Maggie dress and my new wool& Kristen Blazer.
Here are some of my thoughts, based on the questions I’ve gotten so far:
- Is it comfortable? Definitely. I think this bra is perfect for women who need a little more support, separation, and coverage than the Essential Bra might offer. Or, for those who want different coverage and lift options as a part of their foundational undergarment collection (that’s me).
- Is it true to size? Yes! I would say this fits as I would expect a size Large to fit. I do NOT find it super compressive, so if you are one who sizes up to avoid that, I don’t think it’s necessary. On the other hand, if you are looking for a very compressive fit, sizing down might make sense for you.
- Is it supportive? Very. The straps are slightly thicker on this bra than the original Essential Bralette, and that gives it a really supportive feel. It also does not shift around and feels like a good snug fit without being overly compressive (compressive is never what I personally want in a bra). That’s probably my smaller size perspective, as I know that a compressive bra is important for lots of women!
- Does it provide separation? I think so. As someone who has been an A/B cup most of my life and is only recently moving into possible C-cup range, my bra needs aren’t necessarily the same as those with bigger cups. Separation hasn’t really been on my radar because for a lot of my life I was just trying to avoid looking as flat as a pancake (true story). Still, I feel like this bra does a good job and it is not giving uniboob to me.
- Do the gathers at the middle cause wrinkles under your clothes? My answer is going to be: Rarely. I have worn this bra so far with a few different options and the gathers have not been an issue for me. I plan to try a few more outfits on today. I think if you are wearing a tissue thin t-shirt or tank top that is extremely form-fitting then it could be an issue, but not in most cases.
- How well does the color work as a “nude” option? Perfectly. This was my first thought because I like the Luna Grey color but I wondered how well it would function under all colors of clothing. Of course, all skin tones are different but I think this color is going to become virtually invisible under most clothing options, light or dark.
- Does it roll or shift? It depends. As far as shifting, I am finding this bra stays put really well. By that I mean, I am not finding the pads to end up where they shouldn’t be or to need repeated readjustments. That’s awesome, as I sometimes find myself having to readjust a lot with some bras from other brands. Finding a bra that is comfortable and still says put is tricky. For full transparancy, I do have some rolling of this bra and here is why. My middle section of my body is my largest metric (like it or not). So I am finding the wide band at the bottom does roll up or scrunch up a bit when I am sitting and moving, because the rolls of my belly are pushing it up. Rolls gotta roll, I guess. However, I still say I wore the bra through a crazy day yesterday. I drove around a ton, back and forth from the library, on teams calls, to costco waiting on a tire full of nails to get fixed, back to the library for more work, then back to school pickup, then to our after-school spot for more remote work, then back in my car for a 45 minute commute home. This bra was incredibly comfortable throughout it all and I was happy to have chosen it for this day of complete chaos. That’s a big win in my opinion!
- Will this bra be a daily wear? For me, 100% yes. For all the reasons we love merino: odor-resistance, temp-regulating, comfortable, durable, low-wash, lightweight…I have no reason to ever go back to any other options for undergarments. I’m so glad I found Merino & Branwyn for my closet!

Amazing and thorough review, thank you! You answered all my questions except one: what about the dreaded back fat? I tried on a wool bra that had decent compression around the band, but none above the band which pushed my back fat and loose skin up and out very noticeably. Could this one be my answer?
Great question Carol! I will try to add a pic of the back of the bra- that might help with this question. My thoughts are that this would do a good job because it’s got thicker straps and a wider structure in general that a more “lightweight” style-bralette. There are so many factors to how a bra fits and what makes it work for each woman of course, but I did feel like it might be a great option in this case! Thanks for your question!
