A warm and fuzzy Christmas Story + the fabulous Woolx Saranac Throw Review

I have a sweet Christmas story for you that I reminisce about every single year. I thought this year I would share this story along with a review of my new Saranac Blanket from Woolx since cozy blankets and reading at two of my favorite things. Woolx sent this blanket along as a gift  for me to share with you guys, and I have got to tell you that it’s absolutely lovely.

Thank you for shopping with me this holiday season. Your purchases through my affiliate links help me do what I love and it means so much that you would take them time to read my blog posts….truly!

The Saranac Throw is absolutely a dream of a blanket and it’s the perfect size. It’s soft and cozy, but still thick and substantial. It’s lightweight, but also has a slightly-nubby snuggle-worthy texture that just makes you want to curl-up and take a nap! It definitely reminds me of a handmade blanket knitted by your grandma, yet it’s neat as a pin and you can just feel the quality every time you touch it. Because it is 100% Australian Wool, it’s almost like it has a warmth of its own, while still being perfectly breathable. I’m telling you, this blanket is the epitome of all things wool and magical!

My ten year old son keeps trying to take MY throw and the fact that it is pink has not stopped him (the Light Rose is a beautiful blush pink, almost a peach color. It also comes in Cream, and Light Grey. I love the vintage colors).

He and I love to cuddle up on the couch with a good book and a blanket, so we will just have to share this gorgeous Saranac Throw. It’s generously sized at 54″ x 60″ so that shouldn’t be a problem. Check out the rest of the features!

  • Luxuriously soft
  • Breathable for all day comfort
  • Use year round
  • Warmth without the bulk
  • Perfect Size for comfort (54″ x 60″)
  • Beautiful knit
  • Gorgeous color selection
  • Extremely warm and cozy

Did you know that Woolx makes another blanket as well? They also have the Tahoe Merino Throw, which I haven’t seen in person yet. It is lighter than the Saranac and looks amazingly soft and luxurious! If you have either of these blankets, please let me know in the comments!

Now, on to my sentimental Christmas story.

Reading is a very important legacy in our family. Both my husband and I grew up as very enthusiastic readers and not just by accident. Both of my parents made reading a very high priority for me and my siblings and it has been a lifelong passion. I’m so grateful that I learned to love reading as a child and passing that love on to my own children was one of my most fervent hopes.

The story I’m going to tell today happened when my twin girls were only 2 years old. I’m not going to lie, at that phase of parenting I was exhausted beyond belief. Truly, I cannot even tell you how tiring it was to parent twin toddlers, as sweet and precious as the work was. I cherished every minute of it, but I was also just praying my way through, if you know what I mean!

With that background, I will say that my girls loved to read from babyhood and another thing the three of us really loved to do together, was to shop. For some reason, they were usually really patient at the stores and enjoyed looking around at all the sights. One day, we were shopping at Sam’s Club. I remember that I especially  loved going there, because they were one of the only stores that had grocery carts with double baby seats in the front! I’m telling you, it was such a help to be able to put both of them in the front of the cart, so I would often go just to browse without even making a purchase. So, on this day, we were just shopping around and my girls were each looking at a musical Silent Night board book from the book section. They were happily pushing the buttons and listening to the soft music and definitely on their sweetest twin behavior.

We got a lot of attention at stores (for better or for worse) because the girls were simply adorable. (Sorry if I sound braggy, but it’s just true.) People were constantly coming up to us to talk to them or ask me endless questions about being a twin mom. On this particular day, a woman I would guess was in her 50’s came up to us and talked to us for a few minutes. We had a pretty long conversation, in fact.  She was really lovely and sweet and asked if we were buying two identical books. I told her, “No, the girls are just looking at these while we are shopping, but we will be putting them back before we go through the checkout.” I am sure I laughed and said they were used to window shopping! What I didn’t tell her was that our budget was extremely tight back then, and we were very frugal. I would never purchase brand new books spontaneously at that point in our family’s financial journey. Most of our books came from the library or my favorite thrift store where I could fill a bag for $1.50.

She complimented all of us again and we said good bye and Merry Christmas to one another. About twenty minutes later I was in the checkout line and the lady came up to me again and gave me $25 in cash and asked that I purchase the two books for my babies! I was absolutely stunned. I tried to decline, because I just couldn’t believe a stranger would do something like that. But she firmly insisted and I was so incredibly touched. Every single year ever since, we pull those books out and I remember this story. My girls are 16 now but that surprise encounter with a stranger still sticks with me.

Find our Silent Night Board Book here.

I am not overstating it to say that that unexpected blessing was something I will never forget! I think about it every time I hear the song Silent Night, every time I shop at Sam’s and, of course, every time we pull out our holiday book collection at Christmas time. I often think about the incredible impact that even a stranger could make through giving an unexpected blessing. And I think about making a similar impact on another family someday. Maybe one day I will troll Sam’s looking for young moms who are tired and pinching pennies and need to be cheered up at Christmas time! You never know how a small act of kindness might just become a part of a family’s holiday tradition, just as this story has become part of ours.

WOOL& FREE GIFT WITH PURCHASE EXTENDED!!!!

Lots of companies are extending their Cyber Monday Sales this year. I am assuming it might have something to do with the fact that the economy is taking a turn so maybe retailers aren’t meeting their sales goals and are moving their dates accordingly. Whatever the reason, it’s definitely making the shopping season extra exciting!

Shop the Wool& Free Gift with Purchase Sale by clicking here.

Although Wool& doesn’t strike me as  a company that would extend a sale on the fly, they are actually extending their Free Gift with Purchase Promo through December 5th!

According to their customer experience manager, they are doing this because there was a delay on their mailed catalogs which meant that their customer base didn’t receive news of the promo in time, so they are extending it to accommodate those customers who might want to take advantage, which is really very nice of them!

Like I said before, the gift with promo is an amazing appreciation offer. You choose your gift between two different shirts, a pair of shorts, or a scarf and there are a ton of colors available!

Thank you for shopping my affiliate links!
Details on the sale

You must spend a minimum of $150 and then add your choice of gift items to your cart. The freebie will automatically ring up at $0 in the cart.

There is ONE freebie per household. Click here to check out all the freebies they are offering!

One of the options is the amazing Stella Tee and I’ve talked about it here before. I absolutely love it. It’s such a great fit for me and has held up really well. I definitely could use another color, and I’d really like to try the white.

They are also offering the Frankie bike shorts, perfect for wearing underneath the dresses for a little extra modesty.

There is another tee, the Morgan V-neck tee, a super cute option.

Lastly, you can choose from some gorgeous Luna Jersey Scarves, which I’m totally drooling over.

So hard to choose! If you have been thinking about your first Wool& purchase, this is totally the time to go for it!

Cyber Monday Sales continue BONUS DEALS from WOOLX & WOOL&!

This post is going to be short and sweet because I’ve got one zillion things to do, but I had to hop on and share that both Woolx and Wool&’s biggest sale of the season seems to be continuing!

Thank you for shopping through my affiliate links!
Everything is still 25% off at Woolx which is just crazy!

The awesome thing is that if you have referral credit, you should be able to stack it! My personal favorite items from Woolx are (well, a lot of stuff obviously…but)

Lola Joggers!

 Sawyer Shacket!

Piper Leggings!

Ryann Hoodie:

Bailey + Parker Outfit:  (this one comes to only $161.25 in the cart, a big savings from the regular price….this set is SO cozy, so warm, so soft and washes beautifully!)

Moving on to my other favorite brand: Wool&’s free gift with purchase promo seems to still be live also! I haven’t taken advantage but I have to admit this is crazy tempting. Spend $150 and get a free scarf, shorts, or tshirt. I absolutely love the Stella Tee and am dying for another color! All you have to do to get this freebie is add $150 worth of stuff to your cart PLUS the free item of your choice and it should show up as $0. It’s still working for me! Not sure what to get for your $150?

The Margo

I have to suggest the Margo because that’s what I’m eyeing myself! It is super cozy and everyone I have seen who has tried it, loves it!

Another great idea for the holidays is the Charlie Jumpsuit! It’s beautiful and super comfy: I have it and I love it!

Holiday Dress idea: the ELLIE! It’s beautiful and Marionberry color is so stunning!

The Renata (shown above)  won’t get you to the $150 thresh hold but it’s another holiday STUNNER. I love this dress and really want it in more colors!

The Cypress Cardigan is so luxe, stunning, warm and elegant it just elevates your outfit in the perfect way! I can’t say enough good things about this lovely piece.

Please share what did you buy over the BFCM shopping holiday or WHAT is in your cart today?

Small Business Saturday: Review of Julahas Wool Daria Cape!

Super excited to share with you a gorgeous brand that I have recently discovered: Julahas (which means “weaving”). There will be some affiliate links throughout my post. If you haven’t heard of Julahas, that’s probably because it’s a small family-owned company that specializes in HAND-WOVEN capes, wraps, coats, scarves, belts, and kimonos. Before we get into how incredibly beautiful these products are let’s talk about how they are created:

Julahas’ ethos is empowering crafting communities around the world while offering incredible handmade items to their customers. Keeping local tradition alive, Julahas is intentionally providing opportunities for women, specifically in the Indian Himalayas, to maintain their heritage and continue their time-honored craft on a larger stage than ever before. That means the product you are purchasing is authentically handmade, beautifully designed, and carefully inspected to maintain high standards. You have to admit that is a wonderful way to shop “small” for Small Business Saturday! Click here for more details on Julahas’ business structure.

Wearing my Julahas Daria Cape with the Woolx Eva Tunic top!

Julahas and their partners are commited to “fair wages, no child labour, respect for women, and equal opportunities for all” so you can trust that this company is sustainable, ethical, and fair trade.

I contacted Julahas and asked if they would provide me a couple of sample products to review and they graciously agreed. These products were gifted to me in exchange for my always-honest review. I was super excited to see these products in person and check out how they would work with all of my other wool clothing items. As I hoped, the workmanship and quality is excellent and the design of these products is truly unique and very beautiful.

The first item I received was this Daria Cape in the colorway Ishikari.

In this photo, I am wearing the Julahas Daria cape the “Short way”.
In this photo, I am wearing the Julahas Daria Cape the “Long Way”.

In this photo, I’m wearing the Julahas Daria Cape “Wrapped Twice”.

I pulled the cape right out of the bag and first tried it over my Pine Rowena from Wool&. The colors worked so well together, so I added on some brown leather riding boots and a leather wrap belt for a different look. It feels soft and natural to drape and tuck it. The fabric is fairly lightweight, but warm, and is a lovely alternative to a jacket or coat. In fact, I’ve seen lots of people layering jackets or coats along with their capes and it looks super cute. I’ll try that look in a future blog post. These capes would also make an amazing travel accessory.

In this photo, I’m wearing the Julahas Daria Cape Long and belted.
In this photo, I’m wearing the Julahas Daria Cape long and belted with an Ada Collection Wrap Belt.

I have always loved pink but I admit I don’t have much pink in my wardrobe at all. The really unique thing about Julahas capes is that the color patterns are usually a gradient and they can be worn MANY ways. That means you can adjust the style to allow the colors you’d like closest to your face and vary the look. The many styles are especially fun to try. Here’s a page that shows different ways of wearing it!

For those of you who are already fans of Wool, you know the magic of this natural fabric. If you aren’t familiar here are just a few of the benefits of wool:
*antimicrobial, naturally resisting germs
*odor-resistant
*easy care
*temperature regulating
*durable, sustainable, natural
Wool capes are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Julahas, but I wanted to share this Wool Daria Ishikari with you today since it is Small Business Saturday! I’ll definitely been styling this Cape in future posts and hope to share more Julahas with you soon.

Cheer & Chill: Comfy bedtime favorites + Cozy Woolx Harper PJ Set!

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a great week leading up to my favorite holiday of all, Thanksgiving! I am personally savoring these days as my favorite time of year, since the most hectic (and magical) season hasn’t quite driven us all nuts yet. Typically, I don’t decorate or really talk about the holidays before Thanksgiving, but I’m making an exception because I just received the beautiful Woolx FeatherTouch™ Harper Pajama Set in Candy Stripe from Woolx and we just put up our Christmas Tree so I’m feeling both gratitude AND the holiday spirit! Since I’m currently curled up in these new PJs, I wanted to share a little about my favorite sleep essentials, including a review of the Harper set at the bottom.

Thank you for shopping with me this holiday season. Your purchases through my affiliate links help me do what I love!

Sleep is such a huge priority to me. I definitely have some long-term health issues and I realized when my kids were little that quality sleep is absolutely a non-essential for me. I’m also not someone who sleeps in or really naps, so I have found that going to bed consistently is very important. So my very first tip about rest and relaxation is to prioritize it, and I mean seriously. I go to bed early because I’ve realized that it makes a difference in how I feel long term. Here are some of my favorite sleep aids, most of which I have used for absolutely years.

Marpac Dohm Classic Sound Machine – I bought my first sound machine in high school because I have always been a really light sleeper. I’m not quite as light of a sleeper now as an adult, but I still need all the tools to help me sleep through all the noises of living with other people! We have a small house and five people and a dog living in it. So I knew we would need something to buffer the noises. We have been using these Marpac Dohm Classic Sound Machines for over 15 years in our home and we love them for every bedroom. We buy multiples as back up and travel with them too. These have lasted years and years for us. We find that they get a little dusty after awhile and will start to make a sort of sputtery sound, but you can open them up, clean the fan inside (it’s literally a tiny metal fan), apply some WD-40, and they will usually work again! I can’t say enough about these, we’ll continue using them forever I’m sure.

Weighted Blanket – The one I have is no longer available, but this one looks very similar and there are lots of other options here. I bought my first weighted blanket a few years ago and I loved it from the moment I tried it! There is something about a weighted blanket that just seems to calm you down and help you relax. As someone who can struggle to relax and even be still (thanks ADD & anxiety), this is something that really helps and I use it on my bed every night. In fact, I snagged a second weighted blanket (at a thrift store believe it or not) and I keep it in the living room so when I am sitting on the couch, I use it to cocoon my legs and it’s the coziest thing ever. It’s kind of an ugly blanket but it’s worth it! Warning: My husband is very gracious but he HATES the weighted blanket because it’s hard to adjust at night. I keep it on my side of the bed but it’s still kind of annoying if your partner doesn’t like it. Don’t say I didn’t warn you

Heating Pad — This will make me sound about 90 years old, but I use a heating pad every single night. This is probably tied to some of my health issues but I typically have pain in my back and neck (despite weekly chiropractic visits) and the heating pad instantly helps me relax. I know it sounds absurd because in the summer you will find me laying on my heating pad, covered up with weighted blanket, and blasting the fan as high as it will go, but hey I sleep pretty well.

Natural Calm Magnesium Glycinate
Magnesium has lots of benefits and many of us are deficient. I found out a long time ago that Magnesium is really helpful for me and helps me to sleep better and have generally less pain and inflammation. I have tried several kinds but my favorite is Natural Calm brand Magnesium Glycinate. It doesn’t upset my stomach and it works. It can also help with anxiety.

Relax Essential Oils — I’ve blogged about this product for years, I’ve shared it with dozens of friends as gifts and I use it myself all the time. Relax essential oils by Plant Therapy will always be in my purse or car for random stress moments! If I can’t settle down to fall asleep I rub this on my neck and under my nose to have a breath of calm and I promise it works! I have given it as gifts dozens of times and it’s really become one of my favorites. If you aren’t familiar with Plant Therapy they are very affordable yes they have excellent quality standards and exceptional customer service. I’m a huge fan!

Kindle PaperwhiteAnother thing that is a crucial part of my bedtime routine is reading. I’m a lifelong reader and cannot really fathom going to bed without a good book. Now that I read on my Kindle Paperwhite, it is even easier because of the screen and I get all my books directly from my library for free! I throw it in my bag for travel. I have even read books from the pool because it’s water resistant. The screen is super adjustable and it really feels like you are getting the book experience. I have had mine for years and love it.

Woolx FeatherTouch Harper Pajama SetI’ve talked about my health issues before but over the last couple years temperature regulation has become more annoying because I have thyroid issues, hormone imbalance, and low iron. One of the things that I’ve noticed is that when I’m hot I’m really really hot and when I’m cold I’m absolutely freezing. My body just doesn’t stay comfortable the way it did a few years ago. That’s why I couldn’t wait to try Woolx FeatherTouch Harper Pajama Set because I know that Wool has natural temperature-regulating properties; essentially, it keeps you cool in the heat and warm in the cold! It sounds kind of amazing, and IT IS. These pajamas are everything I hoped they would be. Soft, comfortable and super cute.
Check out the features:

  • Handy Pockets In Bottoms
  • Fabric Covered Elastic Waist Band
  • Drawstring In Waist
  • Button Front
  • Front Chest Pocket
  • Ultra-soft & Feather-light
  • Breathable & Moisture Wicking
  • Quick Drying!
  • Odor Destroying
  • Temperature Regulating
  • Enhanced Durability
  • Repels Wrinkles
  • Packs Small

When I first opened up the package, I couldn’t believe how lightweight and silky these pajamas feel.  The fabric is actually not very thick which is great because I was looking for BOTH breathable and warm. They are incredibly soft and comfortable, silky and smoth. I tried them on and love the fit. I got a medium which is my normal size for Woolx and the fit is great. I  One thing I love about them is that I can pull the top right over my head without bothering with the buttons. I think these would have been incredible when I was breastfeeding. The buttons do not gap and they are very small and smooth so won’t bother me as a stomach-sleeper. Another thing I love about them is that the fabric has a comfortable amount of stretch to it, so when I stretch my arms every which way there is no tightness at all. Sometimes button up style feel a little stiff to me? These are nothing like that. One thing I do not like is that the bottoms are somewhat see-through. When trying them on with black underwear I could see through them in the back. I will wear lighter colored undies and I’m sure it will be fine, but I did want to share that in the interest of an honest review! If you are worried about this, you could try the Black Harper Pajamas instead.

One last thing I wanted to add is that Woolx also makes short pajamas that look amazing as well as the Harper design in Tall.

I’d love to hear your tips on how you get good sleep and cut back on stress during the busy holiday season! What are your Cheer & Chill essentials? Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Day 3 Deal is now live and it’s Lola Joggers in Lava Smoke & Olive Tree, for only $65!

I am extra excited about because I love the Lola Joggers so very much, like I’ve shared before. The Lola Joggers are my holy grail of pants. They are the #1 most versatile pair of pants in my wardrobe because they can serve as dress pants, workout garb, travel wear, sleep wear. I have done all of the above and since they are lined with Merino, they can go from one event to the next, without even stopping to wash! Wow! That makes them so versatile I can’t even believe it. I wear them multiple times a week, all year round. Here are just a handful of ways I style my black pair.
I bought them in black, Lava Smoke, and Olive Tree so I have tried all three colors. Like Wednesday Adams, I love my black the best, but all three are fabulous and for this price you just can’t go wrong! They aren’t on sale, but I have to mention that they are available this season in Winter Bloom (purple) and Oceanside (dark blue). I really want to try these new colors!

FEATURES:
*Elastic waist, comfy drawstring
*Side pockets for all the things
*Elastic knit ankle cuffs
*Moisture wicking, quick drying
*Breathable for all day comfort
*Antimicrobial – odor destroying
*Plush, soft feel
*Built tough for extra durability
*Completely opaque

As requested, here is a pic of the Lava Smoke Grey Joggers!

A note about sizing: I am wearing a size medium, just like I do in the leggings and it’s generally my true size across the board. I do think that if you want a super loose and slouchy look you might want to size up. I like mine a little trimmer because I wear them more like dress pants.

Here are some of the ways I styled my Olive Tree Lola Joggers (Please excuse my mirror selfies, I’ve learned how to take better phone pics since!) Hopefully you get the idea: you can make a ton of outfits with these. I have found olive green is actually a great neutral.
I hope you take advantage of this awesome deal and grab a pair of Lola Joggers for only $65! I know you’ll love them as much as I do. Looking for more great Wool Looks? I’ve got a whole lot of that! Click the “Wool” category at the top and be sure to subscribe for the next BFCM deal from Woolx!

Thanks for joining me for Day 1 of Woolx Deal Days! I couldn’t be happier that you are here shopping with me.  If you make a purchase, I might receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. I’m very excited to be working with Woolx and sharing lots of great looks with you this season!

I have had my McKenna Leggings for over a year and they still look like new! One of the reasons why is that they are lined with Merino Wool which means they don’t have to be washed nearly as often as synthetic fabrics. For example, the athletic leggings I have owned before would need to be washed after every single workout, without fail. But Merino Wool is odor resistant and antimicrobial, so after a workout (or let’s be real, a really busy day of running errands in the heat), I can just spritz them with my wool spray (literally just alcohol and vodka) and let them hang up to air until tomorrow. By the next day, they will be fresh and ready to wear again. So although these leggings are the most expensive ones I have owned, they feel better, look better, last longer, and need less washing then any other pair I have ever had. You really can’t get any better than that!

Here are just a few ways I have styled my Mckenna Leggings. These are one of the most versatile wardrobe staples in my closet!

The biggest Wool drop of the season: the Woolx Sawyer Shacket!

Woolx always brings some great new products to the table every season and I know I’m not the only one constantly checking for new clothing items! This Fall, everyone has been talking about the Woolx Sawyer Shacket.

I decided to go with the Camel color to contrast with all the black in my wardrobe.

This piece is so magical because it’s got the retro-vibes we all love plus the shacket is majorly trending on all the fashion channels from Pinterest to the blogosphere. Sometimes a perfect design can be timeless and trendy at the same time and this jacket is BOTH! As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to try it.

As always, I couldn’t be happier that you are here checking out my little blog and I so appreciate you using my affiliate links. If you make a purchase, I might receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. I would like to personally thank Nicole and Jenny at Woolx for working with me and sending over this incredible product for me to try. You guys are the bomb and I’m in love with your company!

Wearing the Sawyer with my Wool& Sierra, black flats, and a vintage necklace. I loved this combo!

In South Carolina, a good jacket can serve me for the whole cold season, especially if that jacket is made of wool. (For those of you who think we don’t get cold in the deep South, I would like to tell you about what humidity and low temps give you in January and February. It actually gets bitterly cold and damp!) What’s so great about wool, anyway? Here are just a few of the benefits:

The Sawyer comes in four colors; it was really hard to choose.

Wool is naturally anti-microbial.  Essentially, God made sheep and their wool has magical properties. Because wool resists bacteria, you don’t have to wash your wool as often. I promise, it’s a fact. I have personally tested this principle and I’m here to tell you: it’s true and it’s awesome.  This is one of my favorite things about my wool wardrobe. In fact, our washing machine broke over a month ago. We ordered a new one but it has infuriatingly been delayed FIVE times. (Don’t get me started…this is the first time Costco has let me down). Guess who keeps wearing her clothes without needing the laundromat? Me!

Wool is sturdy. Wool is a very resilient and tough fiber that response well to wear and use. In fact, it tends to get stronger when you wash it and some people have told me it “self-heals”, I’ve tried to understand this, and my best grasp of it is that washing agitates the fabric and helps very small holes/worn spots to even out. My wool has held up GREAT which is so fabulous since I want clothing that I can wear and wear and wear some more.

Wool is temperature regulating.  I thought wool kept you warm, but I had no idea it could also keep you cool! I’m always either hot or cold (thanks thyroid and hormone irregularities) and wool simply helps me feel less crazy. I don’t know how it works (other than God made sheep) but there is a HUGE difference in my comfort level in Wool compared to wearing synthetic fabrics. So much so that I’ve been googling Wool Sheets lately. I’ll probably just settle for the Woolx PJs instead, but believe me the temperature regulation really, truly works.

Wool is comfortable. Honestly, this list is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to wool, but for me comfort is a MAJOR factor. I have always favored comfortable clothing but the older I get the more it becomes a non-negotiable for me. If it’s not comfortable, and I mean, really, truly wear-it-all-day-all-night comfortable, I just won’t buy it. So please believe me when I promise that good Wool clothing is comfortable, breathable, and very soft. This is not the scratchy wool sweater from your childhood. My skin can be really sensitive and dry but I love the feel of merino wool from Woolx. It makes me feel happy to be comfortable and know that the clothes I’m putting on are also low-maintenance, sustainable, and ethically sourced. (We’ll talk more about the ethics later on the blog).

Shown here with my McKenna Leggings, a hat from a local boutique and Uggs. So comfy and cozy!

Woolx makes clothes that fit my life! Besides all the benefits listed above, Woolx has done an amazing job of designing clothing that fit into my lifestyle and are cute! (Yes, I need cute.) Some companies market their wool strictly to backpackers and campers and yes, wool is an amazing solution to any kind of outdoor lifestyle. It’s perfect! However….that is just not my vibe. I’ve never spent a night outside and I am simply not athletic. But these pieces are so well designed, they are the ideal solution for my mom-on-the-go wardrobe needs. I need practical, cute clothes that can be worn and re-worn without washing. I need clothes that will go easily from carline pickup to dinner out…..to a weekend away…. to a work event, and so on! And I have never been happier with my wardrobe until I started adding in some great wool pieces.

Getting off my wool soapbox and back to the item in question, the fabulous Sawyer Shacket. Let’s take a closer look.

Those are just the details straight from Woolx…..But how does it really feel? And does it keep you warm?

Over the last couple weeks, I’ve worn the Sawyer while working from home, running errands, out to grab coffee with my husband, and to a local festival with my whole family.  It’s both warm AND light-weight which is absolutely my favorite part about it. When we were out all day at the festival, it started out really chilly so the Sawyer was perfect for keeping me comfortable and warm. (I wore it over the McKenna Leggings and the Jenny top). Once it warmed up later in the afternoon, I took it off and carried it. It’s so much lighter than a coat so it was much easier to tote around. I could have tied it around my waist also.

Woolx said they spent a year developing this design and I totally believe it! Somehow they nailed an over-sized yet feminine cut of this “masculine” style and made it cute, comfy, and functional. The pockets, also, are pocket perfection, almost invisible from the front yet generous and warm.

Well, that’s it folks. It’s a shirt, it’s a jacket, it’s wool, and it’s amazing. Any questions?

The Wool& Cypress Wrap Cardigan Review and pics!

I was delighted to receive the Cypress Wrap from Wool&. I am definitely obsessed with cardigans and love layering throughout the year. I generally tend to be hot-natured and live in the weird, variable deep south where we get some surprisingly cool temps, with icy humidity, as well as some drastic temperature swings all in the same day. So I knew a nice wool cardigan would be a great addition to my wool capsule!

If you shop with Wool&, I so appreciate you using my affiliate links. If you make a purchase, I might receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. I would also like to say “Thank you” to Wool& for gifting me several items for my review, including the amazing Charlie Tank Jumpsuit and the luxe Cypress Wrap Cardigan shown in this post! Wool&, you better believe, I’m a fan for life!

Like I said, in the Deep South, layering is a must and cardigans or jackets get a lot more wear in my wardrobe than true coats. All that to say, I owned no wool blend cardigans at all so Wool&’s Cypress is truly a wonderful addition to my  wardrobe. I’m wearing it here with Wool& Charlie Jumpsuit which is also amazing.

First, I had to choose a color and I have to admit I really waffled over this one. Black is always my default, top choice, so it was my initial inclination. After reminding myself of all the other black I already own, I decided the Charcoal Heather was the way to go. I decided to order size Medium which is my true size most of the time.

When I first pulled the Cypress out of the package, the weight surprised me. It’s 78% Ultrasoft Merino Wool, 22% Nylon
300gsm, 17.5 Micron Wool. That means it’s pretty thick, almost plush feeling. It’s hard to describe the loveliness of this fabric if you haven’t tried it. I just keep thinking it feels very luxurious, silky, and high-end.

I decided to try it with a basic jeans and patterned blouse outfit, along with some Dansko clogs. It was a great way to add a little warmth and elegance to a casual outfit!

Here I am in my Wool& Sierra with leggings and the Cypress. This is an outfit I feel like I could wear anywhere, but it’s definitely appropriate for church, work, or a nice evening out. I really feel put-together in this outfit!

Besides the luxe fabric, I really love the cut of this piece. The Cypress has a structured design that gives it a dressier look. I particularly like the structured shoulders and the wide, almost swingy hem. It’s such an elegant addition to an outfit.Note: I didn’t include photos, but the Cypress also comes with a belt making it easy to use as a bathrobe or for different styles and looks. I think it’s a great idea and I know a lot of people say this cardigan is perfect for travel. It’s just another multi-use item that could fill a bunch of different holes in your wardrobe!
I think this cardigan would be perfect for office-wear, and I will 100% be wearing it into work when I have the opportunity. (I work remote and go into the office occasionally for meetings or events). It will work almost like a blazer for me.

Got any other ideas for styling the Cypress? I’d love to hear them and add photos to this post with your suggestions!
